U.S. Reel Teams Up with ABA

Weekend anglers get the chance to try the most innovative baitcast reels on the market when the largest weekend tournament trail in the country comes to their home waters.

U.S. Reel and American Bass Anglers (ABA) have agreed on a sponsorship package that will showcase the innovations of the company’s SuperCaster® baitcast reels, including the exclusive Angled Bar Levelwind (ABLe) system, to the national circuit’s membership. “This sponsorship gives U.S. Reel the opportunity to put our high performance reels into the hands of fishermen,” says Kendell Hodges, U.S. Reel Vice President of Sales. “We have found that once an experienced angler fishes with our products, they quickly realize that SuperCaster casting reels simply outperform anything else on the market and allow you to do things that other reels simply cannot do. The partnership with the ABA presents a great win/win situation.”

The ABA features four tournament trails: American Fishing Tour, Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Weekend Series, American Couples Tour and Military Bass Anglers Association. “The American Fishing Tour hosts over 1,000 tournaments so our reach to the everyday fisherman is so much greater than it is just through an elite tour,” says Hodges.

ABA President, Morris Sheehan, believes U.S. Reel is the perfect fit for his circuits. “They offer a top quality reel that is priced right for the weekend angler,” he says. “There are so many other brands that offer $200, $300, $400 reels and the average weekend angler can’t afford that. While U.S. Reel does have a $200 reel, their core range of reels (priced $59 to $119) better than hold their own. I can say this, the SuperCaster reels – with the new “wave bar” – cast a lot better than even the most expensive reels with a traditional levelwind eyelet.”

The sponsorship package includes a “Try and Buy” program in which anglers can sign up during tournament registration for the special promotion. “We will have reels at specific events that anglers can take out and try for the day.” says Sheehan. “When they come back in the afternoon, if they want the reel, they can buy it on the spot at a discount. The “Try and Buy” program will be offered at select American Fishing Tour tournaments and all the Bassmaster Weekend Series tournaments. We will also have some reels for prizes and drawings and are working with U.S. Reel on an online promotional drawing for a reel once a month for membership renewals or new memberships.”

In addition to its new partnership with ABA, U.S. Reel also sponsors the Professional Anglers Association (PAA) and the Heartland Trails circuit.
